Peoplecare and UOW support healthy business in the Illawarra

The Illawarra Business Chamber (IBC) are pleased to announce a partnership with Peoplecare and Sydney Business School to provide the Healthy Business Series. This is an innovative partnership between the University of Wollongong and the business community and responds directly to the needs of IBC members for greater training and education.

Michael Bassingthwaighte, CEO of Peoplecare said “Peoplecare’s thrilled to be able to work with the Illawarra Business Chamber and the Sydney Business School to bring this educational series to local businesses. It’s a great example of how we can put our heads together to come up with an innovative way of making a real difference to business and our community.”

This 4 part series of educational business seminars is being delivered by experienced academics from Sydney Business School. The series aims to evaluate the health of business, provide expert advice and insight into new research and trends 2013/14.

“This is a fantastic initiative between the University and the business community to help increase the skills and capabilities of local businesses. It is through partnerships like this that we can hope to drive greater innovation and productivity throughout the region,” said Ms Debra Murphy, CEO of the Illawarra Business Chamber.

Financial Health Check:  Wednesday 4 September
This workshop will discuss the importance of a healthy cash flow and setting key performance indicators to help identify inefficiencies and allow you to focus efforts on what your business is good at.

Brand Health Check:  Wednesday 11 September
While SME’s often view branding as the domain of larger businesses – a strong brand is key to the success and prosperity of all businesses. It affects businesses ability to sell, recruit the best employees and to grow your business.

Employee motivation:  Tuesday 17 September
This workshop will introduce managers and leaders to simple models and practical tools for creating more enduring forms of employee motivation, and discuss the (often undermining) effect of financial rewards and incentives.
