Mike Halloran Returns to IBC team

Release Date: 31/01/2013

The Illawarra Business Chamber is pleased to welcome Mr Mike Halloran back to its team. Mr Halloran, a former IBC Board member, will begin his role as interim CEO at the IBC next week.

“Mike is an experienced business person and has had a long association with our organisation as both a member and Board Member,” said IBC President, Sue Baker-Finch.

“This makes him an ideal choice to oversee the day-to-day operations of the IBC while the Board recruits our next CEO.

“Many members will know Mike from his previous role as CEO of the Community Alliance Credit Union (Illawarra Credit Union). He is also currently a Board Member of Illawarra Retirement Trust.

“The IBC is extremely pleased that someone of Mike’s experience is able to provide his expert guidance for the next two to three months.

“This appointment will allow us to continue to represent members and deliver our high quality business advice and support network during this transition period,” said Ms Baker-Finch.

“I’m pleased to be back involved with the IBC, where there is always a lot going on,” said Mr Halloran.

“I’m looking forward to engaging with members at both the Business Before Hours and Business After Hours events in February.

“We are also busy on the policy and advocacy front, including consulting with stakeholders on projects for the proposed $100 million from the lease of Port Kembla, and contributing to important local bodies such as Wollongong City Council’s Economic Development Advisory Board.

“On the national front, yesterday’s announcement from the Prime Minister means we all now know when the election will be held and we will be working with our state and national partners to ensure the concerns of Australian business are firmly on the election policy agendas of all major parties.

“This is going to be another busy year at the IBC and I’m looking forward to working with members as we continue to assist them to deal with the daily challenges of running a business,” concluded Mr Halloran.
