Job Ready Assistance for School Leavers

Before the holidays are over the Illawarra Business Chamber is encouraging the graduating class of 2016 and their parents to consider the next step and use the summer break to develop a resume and explore the multitude of career options available.
It is recommended that school leavers review the recently launched NSW Business Chamber website – – to explore over 300 career pathways and get practical tips on interviews, job applications and use of social media and Information Technology.
Illawarra Business Chamber Executive Director, Chris Lamont, said the Skillsroad website, an initiative of the NSW Business Chamber, is designed to help young people find a career that is right for them.
“Young people and their parents need information on training options, future job opportunities and advice on career pathways. Providing this information together with practical tips and assistance is essential to assist school leavers and parents make informed decisions,” said Chris Lamont.
“Skillsroad provides important tools to assist in putting together a resume and other practical tips and information essential for all job seekers,” said Chris Lamont.
The Skillsroad website provides a wide range of free services including:
  • Careers Explorer – look at over 300 different career pathways
  • Read and watch inspirational career stories to better understand what different jobs are about
  • Career Quiz – see which careers best fit your skills and interests
  • JobsBoard – find your dream job on our advertised job vacancies
  • Resume Builder – build your own formatted resume
  • Job-Fit Test – look at your ‘work readiness’ and ‘job fitness’
The Skillsroad Show is currently touring NSW to drive employment, promote practical job skills and create a better future for our youth. This mobile careers caravan will be coming to the Illawarra in Term 2, 2017.
