IBC members support governance changes

Release Date: 29/06/2012
At a Special General meeting, held yesterday evening, members of the Illawarra Business Chamber voted to support a closer relationship with the NSW Business Chamber. This decision will see over $200,000 injected into the IBC each year by the state-wide body.

“These additional resources will provide a boost to the organisation’s policy and research resources and also allow us to offer greater support for local chambers in the region,” said Mr Michael Bassingthwaighte, Vice President of the Illawarra Business Chamber.

“The new arrangement establishes a Related Party legal structure between the two organisations that enables the IBC to continue to obtain access to the wide range of products and services that are available from the NSW Business Chamber. This is a natural progression of what has been a long-standing relationship between the regional organisation and the state-wide body.

“We thank those members who took the time to vote on this constitutional change.

“The IBC Board and CEO will now be focusing on how best to use this additional funding to maximise the benefit to members and on establishing even stronger relationships with our NSW Business Chamber counterparts,” concluded Mr Bassingthwaighte.
