Dual Olympian to speak to Illawarra business leaders

Release Date: 15/08/2012
As the 2012 London Olympics draws to a close, local business leaders have an
opportunity to hear from one of Australia’s most successful athletes about her
experiences and the lessons sport has taught her about achieving success.

Jane Flemming is a dual Olympian who during her career held a world number 2
ranking, won two Commonwealth Games Gold and two Silver medals, 13 national
titles and broke literally hundreds of records over a period of 15 years in elite
competition. Indeed, her 1990 Commonwealth games record score for the heptathlon
still stands today.

“Becoming an elite athlete takes enormous dedication and persistent application.
These skills are also needed to become a successful entrepreneur and business
leader,” said Mr Mike Leask, CEO of the Illawarra Business Chamber.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from Jane about her recent project as commentator
at the London Olympics and on the lessons the sporting arena can teach those of us
working in business.

The Illawarra Business Chamber’s Executive Lunch is proudly supported by RMG
Partners and will be held on Tuesday 21 August at City Beach Function Centre from
11:50am (for a 12:15 start).

Members and non-members wishing to attend should visit
www.illawarrabusiness.com.au or contact the IBC on 4229 4722 to purchase tickets.
