Hunter Business Chamber events called off

Release Date: 16/03/2020
The Hunter Business Chamber will cancel or postpone face-to-face events in the wake of Government advice to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Business NSW, the state’s peak business organisation, has also moved to postpone scheduled events.
The decision affects two events the Hunter Business Chamber currently has open for booking:  The Business Development Forum featuring Marty Adnum from Out of the Square Media on Wednesday 25 March;  The Hunter Infrastructure Series lunch featuring Telstra CEO Andy Penn on Thursday 2 April.
Refunds will be issued to those who have bought tickets to these events.
“We run the region’s most extensive business events program and are disappointed that we are unable to present these excellent speakers to the business community at this time, but the health and safety of our members and the community is paramount,” Hunter Business Chamber CEO Bob Hawes said;
“These are extraordinary times on a global scale and we must take the advice of the Government and medical experts.
“We have already received feedback from our sponsors and the business community in support of our decision and we will work with them to re-instate our events program as soon as it is safe to do so.”
The Chamber has been communicating regularly with its members to provide advice for business and employers about managing the coronavirus crisis. Business Australia has posted an Employer’s Guide to Coronavirus on its website.
The Chamber and Business NSW have also been liaising with government to ensure that decision-makers receive the best advice on measures to help business through this difficult period.
Mr Hawes urged Hunter businesses to provide feedback on the impacts of COVID-19 through Business NSW’s quarterly Business Conditions Survey, which opened online today and includes specific questions about the effects of coronavirus.
“The Business Conditions Survey is an influential document that is well regarded by government, media and industry – and there has never been a more important time for business owners and operators to have their say through this platform,” Mr Hawes said.
