Chamber welcomes discussion on relocation of government agencies

Release Date: 21/04/2017
The Hunter Business Chamber has welcomed the address from Deputy Nationals Leader Fiona Nash at the National Press Club in Canberra this week, discussing relocation of government agencies to regional areas.

Chamber CEO Bob Hawes said the Chamber supports the notion that key regional centres can provide attractive and viable options for the relocation of some government departments.

“We welcome policy that provides a framework to create appropriate and sensible efficiencies.

“The Hunter is well placed to accommodate further growth from both private and public agencies. The region is home to excellent amenity, support structures and a proven track record.

“The Chamber recognises that regionally based agencies have the ability to contribute significantly to regional and economic performance,” Mr Hawes said.
